Just a little throwback

A Day That Changed My Life

The day that changed my life was when I had been told I had gotten the scholarship to spend a school year in Canada, all expenses paid. It was a week day; I remember I got out of school as usual and once in the car on my way home, I decided to check my email.

There were not many unread emails in my inbox at the time, as I checked it almost every day due to school projects; but there was this blue dot on my screen that I will never forget. It had this fancy name as if an important letter had been carefully deposited in your mail. I stared at that blue dot for at least ten seconds, and I waited; I pressed the screen and as a new tab pushed my inbox to the left making that encouraging blue dot disappear, I felt my nerves on edge. I read everything the email said making sure I did not misunderstand any single word. As I was reading, fear got into me, anxiety and longing to know; I was not aware I could feel all those emotions at the same time.

The email contained a link, I couldn’t wait anymore so I opened it and there was the list containing the hundred names of teenagers that got in; I scrolled down as fast as I could looking for my surname, and there was it. Now it was just joy what pervaded my body. As soon as I was certain, I tapped my mom on the shoulder and I handed her my phone with the list telling her my name was in it. She smiled at me and said she was very proud and happy for me.

From that moment on, I knew my life was going to make a three hundred and sixty degree flip. All the experiences that I was about to live, all the people I was about to meet, they were going to change my life forever.
